Question Upgrading from 1000D : 550D or 50D ?

Hi..
Would like to get some suggestions from here, since Im confused, which one to choose.

Things I need :

More AF Points.
Strong AF.
Grid Layout in the viewfinder for better composition.
High Megapixel.
High ISO.
Better Low Light Photography
Better Shutter Speeds, since I click speedy cars, trains, planes, birds on flight, etc.

Im not a professional and just an amateur.
Main parts of my photography will be indoor portraits of family members, birds outside, cars and nature..

I use Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Lens and Canon 50mm f1.8 Lens.

Now please suggest, which one is better for me or which one would you pick and why..

Suggestions awaited..

i'd consider the 50D or 7D as a real upgrade..

personally, wouldnt waste time with a mid-range body if you already have the handles of DSLR photography.

Ok thanks bro..

I read somewhere,
50D doesnt perform quite well after 800 ISO and noise starts.
Is that true ?

Then how can we do good in low light ?

Also, does the 3mpix less count really matter ?

Like ppl buy my prints and order for canvas prints for 30x40 sometimes.

Will the 50D do it the best without any loss in quality ?

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about pushing the 50D to ISO 800. I have been working as an assistant to a wedding photographer the last few months, and I've been doing more and more shooting. I pushed my 1000D to ISO 1600 (plus flash) to get a shot. It is well-exposed, and with some noise reduction in CS3, it looks pretty darn great.

I think if you popped for the 50D, you wouldn't be disappointed.

Yeah bro, Im using 1600 ISO on my 1000D and it gives a nice result.

And when 50D is a Semi-rpo DSLR means, it should be 10x times great than 1000D, I assume.

Dont know, but I read it in some forums , I guess.

So, I should not worry about it, right ?

I just upgraded from a Rebel XS (1000D) to a 7D and I'm blown away.

I read some reviews criticizing the 7D for being noisy at high iso. Sure, a 18MP photo at 100% on your screen will show some noise at high iso, but to me is not that bad. I've shot at 3200 and I don't think any of those photos are useless because of noise if it's for web use. I still have to print some examples to see the results with high iso

Another thing to have in mind when reading reviews is that, in their minds, the majority of the reviewers compared every camera to the topline ones (1D, 5D)... so in many cases it's an unfair comparison

In any case, as someone coming from a 1000D, I would recommend you the 7D (the video capabilities are a big plus from the 50D)

Just my two cents...

I think, I should wait for 60D, since it will have the new generation sensor, HD Video, flip LCD viewer, aluminium body, etc..

Do the 50D has grid view option for the viewfinder, which we use for Rule of Thirds ?

Also, on Adorama website, it says, on 50D, we can eit the pictures right on the camera, after it has clicked and edit its contrast, etc and can blur the background there.

Is it ?

There's no on/off grid--the 50D does not have an LCD overlay in the viewfinder like the 7D or Nikon dSLRs. It does, however, have an interchangeable focus screen, so you could get a focus screen with rule-of-thirds grid printed on it and install it, if you want.

No. That's wrong. I think you may be misreading the description.
