I am thinking about upgrading my Canon 30D to a Canon 7D. Primary reason is the ability to shoot at 8fps. Has anyone else made this switch and if so, was it worth it? Thanks.

what framerate does the 30D and what do you shoot that you want 8fps?
the 7D is a good camera in any case.. that would be my choise if i was on that side of the fence.

The 7D will also give you more MP, better high-ISO noise levels and overall better image quality. its not jut the framerate.

OP. you just need to evaluate what you want and why... a 30D may be good enough. if you dont know why, or cant demonstrate that your current gear cant keep-up... its unlikley an upgrade is a necessity.. but its always nice to have though.

I still shoot with a 30D as well. It gets 5 fps if you turn it to high speed. 3 fps is the low speed option. Just toggle through the options until you see the "H" next to the little squares icon. I use a SanDisk Extreme III CF card to take full advantage of the rapid fire. I can get 11 or 12 RAW shots in a row until the memory gives out and pauses before the next picture. Cheaper cards are definitely slower. 5 frames per second is not too shabby. But, hey, if you want a new camera (and have the money, of course) buy a new camera!!
