Anyone had this problem?

I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi, which is almost three years old. Yesterday, I put in a CF card to take pictures, and an error message popped up: There is a problem with the CF card. I was instructed to replace the card. I tried three different cards with the same results. I searched other forums to see if this problem was easily fixable, and the gist is that the camera is pretty much "dead." It will cost $200.00 just to have the Canon service department look at the camera to determine if it can be fixed.

Among the other things I tried was updating the firmware, but since the camera will not recognize the CF card at all, I could not update anything.

Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any fixes that will make the camera operational again?

Look down into the CF slot and see if one or more of the little pins at the bottom are bent out of position.
I hope this isn't your problem as it is expensive to repair, but it would explain the symptoms you are having.
