I have a Canon EOS Rebel XTi, which is almost three years old. Yesterday, I put in a CF card to take pictures, and an error message popped up: There is a problem with the CF card. I was instructed to replace the card. I tried three different cards with the same results. I searched other forums to see if this problem was easily fixable, and the gist is that the camera is pretty much "dead." It will cost $200.00 just to have the Canon service department look at the camera to determine if it can be fixed.
Among the other things I tried was updating the firmware, but since the camera will not recognize the CF card at all, I could not update anything. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any fixes that will make the camera operational again? Thanks. |

Look down into the CF slot and see if one or more of the little pins at the bottom are bent out of position.
I hope this isn't your problem as it is expensive to repair, but it would explain the symptoms you are having.
