I just found the link showing ISO test between 7D and 550D (same 18 mp sensor). I think it will be advantage for you

It doesn't look like the 7D is necessarily better, it just looks like the 550D steps on it harder, killing the detail.
I have to say, I wasn't blown away by the 7D even at ISO400. I was processing a bunch of files from myself and other people with D700/7D/5D2/1D4, and you could pick out the 7D images pretty easily.

An offtopic question - What do you guys suggest between 500D & 550D.
I'm confused between these two. Barring the video & higher MP, How is the quality of 500D when compared to 550D?
