I've got 2000$ and want to chose a camera to use for about one year or so, and then will buy a full-frame (likely 5DmkII or even 5Dmark3 by then
)I was thinking about buying a Canon 50D + 24-105L + 18-55, what do you think about this combination? I have found some other options too: 1. 550D + 18-55(kit) + 24-105L well this is just because 550D is newer and uses the same sensor as 7D. otherwise I don't like the ergonomics nor the light-weighted plastic-form body of it. 2. 40D + 18-55(kit) +24-105L I've heard from a lot of people that 40D is still a great camera and because of it's less so called "pixel density" it has got better quality with low-priced lens than 50D. 3. Nikon D90 + 18-105 + 50f1.4 + SB600 + bag and tripod this is a great option but it's Nikon biased. and the only problem with that is Nikon's full-frame glasses are so expensive for me. and If I go with that system I should wait about 1 year to just buy a 24-70 FF glass, then think about getting a body. (but with Canon I can buy a 24-105 now and save my money to buy a FF next year) ; the same goes with 70-200 range, which canon has four excellent lenses with different prices where the Nikon has just one excellent 70-200 which costs so much. I think I can go for another two months or so without a bag or tripod? can't I? ;-) so my questions are: what you think about the options I mentioned above? does a 18-55 on 50D give me a good quality for wide? (between 18-24) and if there is any other options you may have in mind, feel free to tell me (except buying a used 5D. everybody keeps telling me that but I really can't find one here. so please don't even mention it ![]() and if that's important to know; I mostly do landscape and industrial and advertising and even somehow event photography (lately). so that's why I need to buy a full frame soon. |

well I shoot landscape most of the time and need a wide angle too. since I can't afford a nice wide lens (like 10-22) right now so I have to stick with the 18-55 kit.

Personally, I think you should just wait, save up and just get the 5D MkII, or go for a used 5D Mk I + the 24-105L, rather than "settling" for a crop-body and then having to swap all your lenses later down the line.

If you're shooting landscape most of the time, why not get a wide angle lens first then (later) get the 24-105? Seems like you'll benefit from the wide angle more than anything you'll do with the 24-105, which, btw, is an excellent lens.

The Classic 5D & 24-105 combo can be had for under $2k. Not a bad combination to play around till you have enough resources to afford a 5DII or 5DIII if there is one by then.

I've waited so long already, and I can't wait anymore to buy the 5D mark II.
a used 5D mark II is also priced much more than what I already have in my pocket. so I can't go for that neighter. and as I said in the first post I can't find a used 5D in here. (I can't use website such eBay in my country too) and about getting just a wide angle, it true that I shoot landscape usually but I will need a all-around lens too. thank you all for taking the time to answer me
