hi all please can someone help me clarrify something, i have a canon eos 450d and have just recently got it, so am a newbie when it comes to photography, canon has two different lense ranges (ef) & (ef-s) .
I have a 55mm-250mm ef-s lense, can i put a x2 extender on it, coz i have been lead to believe that i can only put extenders on ef lenses. Please confirm...... If there is an option for the ef-s lenses please let me know thanks......saz911 |

There is no option for EF-S lenses. The rear element on these lenses extends too far back.
I would also advise against using an extender (teleconverter) on a lens like the 55-250. Having a slow f/4.5-5.6 aperture with a 2x teleconverter makes it a f/9-11 max aperture lens, and that simply doesn't work. You'll lose AF, you'll likely have a ton of trouble focusing manually and the camera will probably not like the electronics of the thing. Extenders or teleconverters are generally used on f/4 or faster lenses, generally primes.
