Default canon purple problem???

hey everyone, i was recently doing pics at the indiana girls state finals and there was quite a lot of photographers around and me and the guy next to me got talking, and he told me that canon cameras have a problem generating the color purple?? i was just wondering what anyone new about this. i mean of course theteams colors were in fact... PURPLE and so when i opened them up. sure enough... they came out blueish and just not right. so any info would be very helpful =)

I've never heard that before...perhaps someone else can shed some light on it. I haven't experienced a problem at all:

I'm curious about this, I'll be watching this thread.

I have heard of it, and I believe it's somewhat true. However, I have no way of documenting it, or confirming it. This issue may not just apply to Canon, BTW

What model camera body and lenses are you using? I've never experienced such a problem with what i use.

I believe it's mostly a sensor issue, and not related to lenses. So this little problem could exist over various models, all using the same or similar sensor technologies. It could also be caused or compunded by the RGB filters used over the sensors, which to my understanding, sensors are black and white monochrome devices

There is a little purple ( if my definition of purple is purple in both photos but especially the second though. Quite a bit in the second photo, see player number five, shorts and shirt, and a purple sweater on a guy on the left. Does that mean anything?

Note: when I open the photos the embedded adobe color space is converted to sRGB by Paint Shop Pro.

Good point. I checked the color space and ICC Profile on the Flickr page for these. The color space says "uncalibrated" and the ICC profile is Adobe RGB. Try setting your camera to sRGB and process them in sRGB.
