Hello!
I just got a Canon 50D as an upgrade to my 350D and I was thinking about crop factors. What I'm wondering is whether the crop factor effects the wide end of my zoom rangeaas well? For example, for my 24-135mm, does the 1.6 crop factor actually make that lens a 38-216mm lens? I'm thinking it does, am I correct?

Crop factor applies to all focal lengths. Your 24-135 isn't literally a 38-216, but it will have same the field of view as a 38-216 would have on a "full frame" camera.
So the short answer is, yes, you're right.
