Hello,
As I dive deeper into digital photography and post processing, I find that there is quite a bit of discussion on Color Management and Color Work Spaces (sRGB, Adobe RGB, etc). I am wondering if anyone can pin point what Color Space the images of my Canon A530 are captured in... Or should I just convert all images to Adobe RGB with Photoshop and be done with it? Thanks, Pat |

Essentially all digital cameras capture in sRGB by default. Some of the fancier ones provide an option to capture in Adobe RGB, but most of those also offer Raw capture and if you're worried about color space, Raw's the way to go. |

I think you're SOL in terms trying to change the color space--the A530 just doesn't have that feature, any more than it can shoot in RAW.
You may want to see if using the CHDK is something you want to get into--that can give you RAW capability. No idea if it lets you use the Adobe RGB color space, though.

Thanks Doug and Ink for your responses...
As far as Chdk.. I am using that to capture RAW... Do know enough not to shoot in jpg.. lol... But isn't RAW a file format, and not necessarily a Color Work Space? Thanks, Pat |

I wasn't equating the two, just saying that's what CHDK would give you. I've never used it, so I didn't know if CHDK also had the ability to pick color spaces with the other functionality it adds.

When you convert that sensor data to an image in your Raw processing software, you select which color space you want to have the resulting image created in. |
