My husband and I just bought a Canon EOS Rebel XS last week, we are beginners when it comes to this camera. I previously had a Canon A530 so I did play with the settings somewhat. My husband and I work at our local fair in the summer as EMT's so I take alot of different pictures. We do want to get a lens though that would be good for the concerts that they have during the week. There will be times I won't be able to get close to the stage, I will be quite a distance at times. So I am wondering what lens would be good to get close up shots at a distance? I will more than likely get a used lens since my budget is limited, would want to stay under $200. Thank you for any and all advice that you can give.

At that budget? I'd say an old 75-300 III or a Simga 70-300 might be what you're looking for, but they're not going to be great. You will probably need to stop down to f/8 to get sharpness out of the lens, which means you'll also need a bit of sunlight or a high iso setting.
