Default 5DmkII HELP PLEASE!!!!

Greetings all, I am having a quite difficult time... I just got a new 5dmkii to upgrade from a t1i and am very impressed with the results except that using EXACTLY the same settings with both cameras the 5d comes out overexposed where the t1i image is larger and near perfectly exposed. The clarity and brilliance of the 5d is absolutely amazing, but it's MUCH brighter.

PLEASE offer ANY advice you might have.

Thanks,

Will

Can you post examples? There's likely a small difference, but it shouldnt be a HUGE difference. Of course, conditions could be the issue.

Example with EXIF.

check you exposure compensation and auto ISO. Get both under control and report back

If you think it is another issue, stick it on full auto and see if it does the same.

Check your ISO - FF cameras are more sensitive. I used to shoot at 400, now I can rarely go over 200 - normal ISO is 100...

Yeah, I'll get some examples up asap. strangely enough, even though it is MUCH brighter on the 5d2, the histogram shows good.

I ALWAYS shoot at ISO100 in bright daylight, even kicking it up to 200 or even 400 it just raises the shutter speed in AV but if I use Manual mode I can get it closer... Is it possible I'm just so used to underexposing that it's throwing me off?

Are you looking at the pictures on a computer or just the LCD on the camera? If so, the LCD might be set brighter on the 5DII.

The LCD is definitely brighter, but especially on the computer. Where I would have to brighten almost every image taken with the t1i, I need to darken the 5d2 images a bit for printing. Canon said to upgrade the firmware, which I did, but it made no difference... Their next advice to me was to buy a "better" lens. Which I would LOVE to do, but unfortunately the L glass is out of my budget right now. Anyway, I would expect the images to be even brighter with a faster lens.

Currently using the EF 70-300 IS USM and 28-135 lenses. I know they aren't the best on the market, but I still thought they were pretty good for outdoor daylight shots.

Sent some test shots to the printer, gonna check them out tomorrow.. Starting to think it's my perception, not the cameras... really wishing I hadn't given back the 70-200L that I borrowed

It could be your monitor. Let us know after the printing. I had the 5DII and the 70-300 lens and I didn't have to too bright pictures.
