Default Advice on Camera

Hello,

I've got a Canon Powershot S3 IS and I would like to know opinions about it.

You've got it already?

If so, what are you asking about? Are you thinking of selling it?

I highly recommend just taking it out, and taking lots of photos with it. Learn how it works. Decide if you like the feel of the camera, and if you can easily use the controls and menus. Anything we say here is purely academic compared to actually using it!

Thanks David,

The cameras technology rapidly arises like occurs in other branchs of electronic industry. My camera of course isn't a "top" and reading some posts I doubt can I take great pictures with it (it is old !).

Old has NOTHING to do with taking great photos.

If your camera is functional, then the only thing stopping you from taking great photos is -- you're not out taking photos yet! :P

The newest and greatest technology can sometimes help in specific situations. But, learning about composition, colors, lines, the "rules" -- things like that ar emuch more important.

I had an S2 IS and LOVED it. I took some great pictures with it. I sold it to help pay for my next camera but I really wish I would have kept it for those times when you dont want to lug a bigger camera around. Start shooting and you'll be surprised.
