Default Is there an Optimum in-camera Sharpness setting?

Hi. I own a 40D, and although I've played around a little with the settings on my camera, I was wondering what other peeps were finding works best with theirs. I usually shoot in the 'landscape' picture style and have the sharpness set at zero. Is there an advantage to adjusting in-camera settings? Dosn't post-processing (say in DPP) provide the exact same control?

Thanks for your time.

If you're shooting RAW (you ARE shooting RAW right?), it doesn't matter. Sharpness won't be applied anyway.

But, in short, no, there isn't an optimum setting. Different pics may need more or less sharpening. Depending on what your output is (paper, screen, etc.) that will require more or less sharpening.

Thank you both ... I figured as much, but couldn't confirm it with the camera's manual.

Ah, ha. A response that offers an explanation for in-camera settings.

Thanks Ken. This is what I was looking for.
