Lightbulb Next Canon camera recommendations?

I currently own a Canon EOS 400D or Canon Rebel XTi.
I'm considering purchasing a new DSLR and I wanted a Canon camera, any suggestions as to what I should get? I'm not looking for anything too professional and keeping a not-too-pricey budget in mind as well.

Thanks!

What do you shoot most often? What Lens do you have? What is your Budget?

What doesn't your XTi/400D do for you that you want your new camera to be able to do?

Well lately I'm mostly into portraiture but in general I like to shoot a variety of subjects from landscape to macro. Lens, I have the included camera lens 18-55, and I recently bought a 75-300. Well for budget, I don't live in the US so I can't quote prices in dollars :/

You can do those with new lenses, not a new body.

I can really only think of a few reasons to upgrade the camera body:

Higher resolution -- worst reason of all, but if you absolutely need to print huge images, say larger than 20x24", I can see it.
Better high-ISO performance -- if you shoot in low light conditions often, like indoors or concert photography.
Faster burst mode -- for action and sports photography.
Better autofocus/metering -- again, mainly for action, but convenient.
Video -- enh. I expect the "HDDSLR" to take off, but comapred to where it's going, the models with video today will look like what a 10D looks to us now.
Full frame -- for a variety of things, from better image quality to better wide lens selection. Best reason to upgrade.

With that in mind, you're only really going to be served by making a big jump. It's sort like having an old, standard-definition TV. You could upgrade to a slightly larger standard-def, or get a big HD TV. One of those choices is fairly pointless.

So, I'd say that you'd probably be looking at a T2i, 50D, 7D, or 5DMkII. Maybe not even the T2i.

But you should buy lenses first, then upgrade if it's really the body holding you back.
