Canon Powershot A710IS

I have had this camera for about 1 1/2 months. So far I love it, but I have been going through a bit of a learning curve. I have had a digital camera before, but really did not use the manual functions with it and did not get terribly artistic. Other than that, I am a complete camera/photography amateur. I knew NOTHING before I got this camera.

Right now I am experimenting with the Macro function on my camera. What I know now is that to use macro and get really close to something, like an eye or a flower, you must not be using any zoom at all. That took a while to figure out. The camera would not focus if I was zoomed in on my object, neither automatically nor manually, not if I also was close to the object. Now that I know more how to use this function, I love it!

I'm also experimenting with the Color and Lighting options. So far, whatever I have the lighting set to, as long as I have it is set appropriately, it seems to be pretty accurate from screen to monitor to print. Color I'm still playing with, today Black and White. If you look at my B&W assignment, you'll see how I fared. I was pretty happy with it. I did play a bit in Photoshop to get my final result though.

I have not found anything I am not happy about with this camera. I'm really anxious to get some action shots. I need to get my horses running once it warms up a little, and then I'll play. I have found hardly any sample action images taken from this model camera, so I'm a little worried that it doesn't take good action photos, but we'll see.

Hi... I am also having Canon powershot A 710is.. No doubt its a good camera... I am using this more than 3 years now.

The only draw back is Shutter time lag when using flash. We have to wait 10 sec to click next pic after using flash.
