Default Closed eyes opened...

I caught my nephew and his friend playing behind the sofa with their lego, and had to take a couple of shots of them. Sadly, my nephew had his eyes shut in one, and looked a bit 'squiffy' in the other...

Luckily, there was one good eye ;-)
My first step was to take the eyes from one image and put them into the other as a new layer. I had to rotate them a bit to get them to line up, then used the eraser with a very blurred edge to merge them in with the original. Then I decided that the 'squiffy eye was no good, so I copied the one good eye, flipped it horizontally (and rotated it a bit again...) and put it in place, then used the blurry eraser to blend it in again... and voila!!

If I hadn't told you, you'd probably not have spotted it (hopefully).

OK - it's not a great picture, and this was just a way of salvaging a family snapshot. It was more just an excuse to post something today, and wish every one a Happy Australia Day!

So - Happy Australia Day

Cheers,
Grumby.

Wow excellent work, I still can't tell that it wasn't originally taken like that.

Great work! I allways have a problem to get all people to keep their eyes open in my shots, have never thought of manipulating eyes from different shots afterwards. A great inspiration! Thanks

Thanks all. I was quite surprised that in the second photo (that I took the eyes from), Jay was looking directly at the camera, and yet by transposing them into the other picture and simply rotating them slightly (I made no perspective or other changes), it now appears that those same eyes are peering slightly off to my left... Perhaps it is just an optical illusion because his face is facing that way.

Thanks again for looking and for your comments.

nice work - and TFS - my son does this all the time when he has his photo taken - I had give your technique a go. I guess you have to have two photos taken at the same time with the same distance to the camera.
