Default Before and after editing glamor/ boudoir shot

Before and after of glamor/ boudoir photo shoot I did. I'm sure there are easier way to create this, but I'm self-though, so I take whatever way gets me where I need to go..lol

First I created 2 layers, Call the new layer "eyes" using the lasso tool, I selected the eye iris and went to "Filter" "Sharpen" "Smart Sharpen" bring it up till you gets more definition to the eye then deselect the eye.

To fix the skin, i use the stamp tool, on an opacity of 30-55, I then copy the nicer part of the skin on the imperfect part till it's all clear.

To add to the makeup (it's easier because I'm a makeup artist) (also easier if you have a palette, some are fairly inexpensive and make a huge difference) I use the dodge tool at a fairly low opacity on "mildtones" to lighten the eye. I then use the 'Burn tool" on "shadow" at a very low opacity (4-8) and use it as an eye liner and to darken the eye lashes. I then change the "burn tool" to "mildtones" and bring the brush up up size and the opacity up to maybe 20. I then contour the eye in the outer corner.

Once happy with the result, I flatten the image and create another layer. In the new layer, go to "image" "adjustments" "black and white" then go back to that layer on your bottom right and lower the opacity till you get the desire shade in between black and white and colour.

From there, grab that layer to the little square with a circle inside called "add layer mask" a white square will pop beside your layer, choose the brush tool, in black, at a very low opacity, may 10-15, use an appropriate size brush for the cheek and add a bit of her natural pink glow back in the image. now make your brush small enough to cover the iris and bring the opacity up to 80 and brush only the iris, not the white, it will make the eye pop.

flatten image, create new layer (final one) now with your new layer, go to "filter" "blur" "smart blur" blur till the image is well blurred but you still have definition. Now go back to your layer, drag to the "add layer mask" and the same as last time, us a medium size brush with different opacity to unblur the focal area, make sure the eyes are completely sharp still.

There you go, i hope i haven't forgotten anything and that it's not to hard to follow. Have fun :-) p.s. don't mind my Frenchefied sentence..lol all this was created on Photoshop CS3

I think this is very well done with a great explanation. Thank you!

I was a little confused initially because the first photo is the "after" shot; once I got past that, the explanation was perfect!

Thanks, yeah, the picture is backward, only noticed after I posted it. It's the first time I've posted here and it was good, it got me thinking about what I do and why I do it. which is often an issue, i use to manage to find cool thing on Photoshop but never payed attention to how I had gotten there and I could never replicate my own work. so my new rule of the day, Pay Attention!!! lol Hope it was helpfull

Stunning work, really good. TFS

Being a make-up artist really helps I'm sure, my version would end up like a pantomime dame!

Thank you for sharing your techniques, I love them. I used your eye sharpening technique on a photo of my son and I love how it turned out. It really helped salvage a picture I liked but one where the lighting sucked, and I totally messed up the focus.

It looks good, I like the clean look of her skin but I like the red in the original photo.

Try this trick I learned for the eyes. If you are using photoshop.

Duplicate the layer
Mask the entire layer
change the layer mode to screen
with a soft brush unhide the eyes
lower the opacity to your taste

brings out the colors

baby_chele_arts

You can also put the whites of the eyes and the iris on two layers and use different opacities.
