Post Countryside Barn Before and After

ORIGINAL:

POST PRODUCTION:

So I took the photograph while I was driving yesterday. I saw the barn, rolled down the passenger side window and snapped a few blind shots. It's not a great photo to begin with but I though I could perhaps salvage it. Here's what I did to fix it.

1. I opened the original photo and duplicated it (Layer>Duplicate Layer). I straightened the duplicate layer atop the original photo since the line of the land was too crooked for me. Then I zoomed in and did a closer crop of the barn. Then you can just merge the two layers.

2. I increased the contrast (Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Brightness/Contrast) on the photo to bring out richer color. Next I increased the midtone contrast (Enhance>AdjustLighting>Shadows/Highlight) which made the texture and lines in the corn field more prominent. Then I increased the saturation (Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation) just a touch and added a small vignette.

I believe there are quite a few ways to create a vignette so google it and see which option works best for you.

I duplicated the layer so I could tilt it to straighten the photo. But you can just make the background a layer tilt it, then crop if you want. I just do it the way I originally learned.

For a quick snap out the window I think you've come away with a fine photo with your edit. The light is certainly very nice and golden.

Well done!
