Default Been there awhile

This is my first photograph post

Yesterday my husband took me to Providence Canyon in Lumpkin, GA to go hiking for the day. On the last leg of our hike we came to a junk car "ecosystem". Apparently there used to be an old homestead there many years ago and when they opened the state park they determined that it would interrupt the ecosystem and cause too much disruption to remove these old vehicles.

To change from the before to after, I auto corrected the picture (i'm using Picasa, so I was 'feeling lucky')

After that, I used the sepia tone to change the color. I added a soft glow on the edges and then added a light film grain.

Really basic, but I thought it turned out pretty neat!

Other info:

Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S1500
Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 5.9 mm
ISO Speed: 64
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Before

After

after

Any feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Great shot! I didn't even know about that; it looks within a couple hours! I should go check it out.

The vintage look is too perfect for that, too.

Default Thanks!

Thanks!

If you go, make sure you have some waterproof hiking boots on, the canyon floors all have about an inch of water on the bottom, but it is soooo worth going!

I like it but I suggest that you add a gradient map color of black and white and set it to overlay and change the transparency to what u think is suitable to add more depth to it
also another thing u can do is to add a brightness/contrast layer and mess with it to make shadows and light areas stick out

other than that I applause you for ur work
Just a personal opinion. TFS

Edit: I thought I would edit it a bit and attach it. I apologize but I couldnt resist.

that looks amazing!

What program would you suggest as a beginning editor? I used Picasa for this one, so it wasn't very advanced

I have GIMP, is that decent? I'm hoping to invest in adobe photoshop or something soon!

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2. I dont know if you can buy it now but look around you may find something.
As for GIMP i never really tried it or even heard of it before a few days back. I cannot really evaluate it or compare it. However some people wrote reviews that it is simple and easy to use, but for me i been using photoshop since 2004 so i would stick to something i know rather than learning a whole new program
