Default Trees

this is my first post. i'm a retired advertising photographer and now rarely go out except to walk around our place once a week, i took this photo which i didn't like. what i did is post processed it to make the final photo. i enlarged the canvas horizontally and cropped the cement sidewalk. the right side of the image was blank (white) i selected the image and pressed ctrl j to put it in a layer above the background. i went to transform and flipped it horizontally. then i used free transform to enlqarged it overlapping a little of the background layer. i used the layer mask to blend the edges which was sharp and obvious before flattenning it. i created a blank layer above it and added the light streaks, adjusting the opacity to make it "see-through" and used the layer mask again to make the impression that some of the streaks are behind the tree trunks <a href=coconut trees copy trees orig. " />s.

Welcome to the DPS forum!

I think the rays are too parallel to really convince me. They seem to be directed properly on the right side of the photo, but on the left side you'll notice that they are coming from the wrong direction. The light shines on the right-hand side of the trees there, but the rays are coming from the left. I do like how you got rid of the tiles and other man-made stuff.

I agree with the fact that it looks a bit too contrived, but overall i think you did some really good work with the photo

I think it is great. I had to read through the description as at first i thought the bottom one was the original and you had just cropped it to produce the top one.

Nice job processing but sybren has pointed out the fatal flaw - that the sun appears to be in two places at the same time. It would look perfect if from a planet in a different solar system.
