Default Sanctuary

The first photo is an untouched .jpg taken West of Omaha NE in a new development called "The Sanctuary". After an exhaustive 3rd day of installing stone on a 7000 sq ft house, the sunset captivated our collective fatigue from the top of a 30 ft scaffold, while simultaneously energizing the team with its potent, raw beauty.

Using an older version of Photoshop Elements (5.0), I did the following to get the results in the 2nd photo using only tools from Quick Fix:

1. Darken highlights
2. Increase temperature (slightly)
3. Tint (towards green)
4. Sharpen (one detent)

Alternative experiments when highly saturating causes totally surreal and intense hues. I'd be interested to know if the sun's rays effect (particularly from the untouched photo) would have also been present had I been using a Canon A1 SLR.

Hi,

I like the original shot a lot. The 2nd one is definitely sharper but the grass is a little too green for me I would personally have done something in between. The sky on the 2nd one looks cool though.
