Default Catching the Moon

I recently did a shoot for my cousins 4 month old. These shots didnt come out extremely clear but I thought I might be able to get something out of them. I was lucky with the background texture that it wasnt too bad editing out the cords from the lights.

Before:

DSC_0306

After:

AmyMoon

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 1/100
Focal Length: 35mm
ISO: Doesnt seem to want to show up anywhere on the photo info
No Flash
No extra Exposure

To edit the cords I used the selection tool and ctrl+j to a new lay from the background copy and moved it slight over the cord. It was time consuming because some had to be small so they wouldnt be very noticeable. After that I just applied the glow effect to the photo and cropped the side lights out.

i would try using the clonestamp tool instead, but thats a minor thing

Main thing for me would be the noise. Not sure why you have so much noise as I cant see your ISO or aperture. I would say your speed is too high anyways - you could drop it to 1/90 or 1/60 handheld and this would possibly allow a lower iso whch means less noise. I have had some decent resutls at 1/30, but it is dependant on your hands and also the situation. 1/60 should pretty much guarantee something useable, as long as you're sensible about camera posture etc.

This kind of situation is where you want a fast lens - eg the 50mm 1.8 or something like that, to avoid noise from having to bump the ISO up. . .

This is an adorable picture!! I love it.

The noise is very very noticeable. May I make the following suggestion (if you want it removed, just let me know). I simply added 2 textures as overlays. You can find textures in this group at flickr.
