Default My Life

This is my daughter Zoë which is greek for life. We were playing in the yard, me practicing photography. She isn't the most cooperative person and has some mad photographers child syndrome already. I guess I have been working at this with the D80 a year and half but before that I tortured her with my Nikon P2 point and shoot, poor kid.

This is SOOC:
50mm f/1.8 of course
ISO400
f/2.8
ss 1/250

My edit

First off I use PSPX2 because my computer is much too slow for CS3(soon will get a new computer and switch).

I started with a usm defog settings I can't remember but I need to tweak that a bit I think. Then I ran a filter to warm it up. A slight bump in levels/curves and a soft light layer in the brightness/contrast layer mode. I'm not too technical on these terms. Sorry. I am self taught on PSP as with photography.

I'm open to any constructive criticism so feel free to add any comments at all.

Good job on the PP, Melissa. I know exactly what you mean by the "photographer's child syndrome". My daughter has it too, although I have now convinced her not to be concious of my camera always being pointed somewhere in her general direction.

I think the skin tone on the original photo is slightly more natural looking that in the PP version, but the treatment you have given her eyes and hair is spot on.

Thank you both.

Stryker. Ya I agree its a tad warm. I have another just like it that she is looking to the side and I didn't "warm" it. I was using warming filter a lot and its a habit now. LOL I gotta break out of it now that I'm not getting super "cool" shots lately. I know I should take the time to learn and practice custom white balance.

Haha that expression is so "Not ANOTHER photo mom..."

Her eyes really pop in the edit, and I actually quite like the skintones in it, but personally find the bright green of the background a bit distracting and would probably desaturate it slightly. Great job though!

Custom White Balance is really easy - you just have to get in the habit of taking a photo of something neutral before you start shooting and then set the CWB from that shot.
