Default First concert photography, with a dslr

My first time taking my first DSLR to a concert.(1 month old!) I would normally never risk bringing it unless I was sure I could get a good secure place to take the pictures.
This was an outdoor event and I took pictures of the band that played when the sun went down.
They were overexposed at first, then I fixed that but they then came out really blurry.
Trial and error! I'll know better for next time.
This was the best picture that wasen't that bad:

I wanted to separate the part that was blurred so his face would be more visible, I came up with these in an attempt to save the picture.

Thanks, I honestly don't remember all the steps, I probly should have taken note of that haha.
For the first one I made 2 copies of the original. Then roughly cut out the blurred parts and gave one of the copies a B+W layer. Then just changed the opacity of the cut out layer. Added some bightness/contrast. Blurred some rough edges. Thats the basics. Just messed around with some layers and settings.

The second one I think I just gave it a B+W layer then made a mask and got rid of some of the blur leaving some light streaks, and changing the opacity.

I would've never figured that you would be able to get that end result out of the first picture. Well done

You did excellent to get the last picture from the first....but.....I LOVE the second picture...it is very arty....very surreal...I think its a fabulous effect, and would be almost impossible to come up with if you wanted to get it......Its the kind of photo you would see in a rock magazine....Keep it...Show it to the band they may want it.......Well done......Paul

Wow lots of fab comments, thanks everyone!
I failed to mention the bands name, they are Comeback Kid. If they do choose to use it I would be on cloud 9! haha worth a shot!
