Default Abandoned Train Depot

Before

After
Train Station

This is across the street from where I work on the railroad in Hillsboro. Just kinda sits there abandoned, I don't think the city has the heart to tear it down.

How did you get from before to after?

I think you lost too much detail under the sign. But other that I like the shot.

I actually prefer the first one, the second one seems a bit over saturated..

It's been a while since I did this one but it was most likely just levels, curves and some spot editing (turning the sign white rather than dull yellow) then a little vignette. The intent was to make it a bold, almost abstract shape rather than a picture of a building so I focused on bringing out the bold blues and yellows for that contrast.

The thing is that the sign is actually white, it was just an interpretation from the camera's choice of white balance for this show that casts the orange glow over everything. Not sure what is making people pick the original over the edit. Oh well.

I personally like the after shot, the contrast and detail especially.

Where is the sign that says "Beaverton 15 Miles"?

Good point. I'm guessing either there was no Beaverton when the sign was made or no one wanted to go there by train. Shrug.
