Default Playing in the stream

This is a shot from our family vacation of my son, taken in roughlock falls, s.d. I loved the innocence of it but because he wasnt facing the camera, the picture seemed a little dull so I wanted to add an etherial feel to it. I think its much more interesting now.

So firstly I reduced the noise in the picture bacuse my iso was to high and it was shady and a little dark so all my pics came out a bit noisy. Then I used an unsharp mask to bring out the details in the shot. Next using a new background copy layer I set my brush tool to 800px and color burn on 3% opacity around the edges of the picture to create a soft vignette. Next I created another copy of that vignette layer and use a surface blur filter on the entire image set to a high radius, Then using the brush tool set to clear at 60% opacity I removed the layer from where my son is crouched and some of the area around him so the blur was soflty blended inward. Next I flattened and saved.

The original is much nicer as the vingeting(sp?) takes awa from the scene. I would crop out some of the foreground grass and lighten up the bushes in front of the child.

I like the effect. You increased the black level in the vignette area (making it seem like the contrast was set higher, but the contrast on your son is lower. Nice effect.

Thanks, Its actually just color burning, I dont touch the black levels, color burn darkens the colors much the same way though, Thanks I love the effect myself (but its hard not to love pics of your child!)

I much prefer the first one. The second ones makes it look as if I'm spying on the child, and that's an uneasy feeling.

Hmm okay, nice.

Image 2:
1.) Postcard potential.
2.) Something I could purchase.
3.) Poster for child care services

You getting my drift here? :P

I love the 2nd one.

Default very sweet

I like the vignette, but there is too much blur for me..or at least not a gradual enough transition...it does give a tunnel effect or something. Cutie, though!
