Default My wife - Digital makeup and Black and White

Here are two different versions of the same photo

Original:

Digital Makeup

Black and White

On the first one, I applied digital makeup to remove skin imperfections. (here is the link on the tutorial on how I did it: Superb Skin Airbrush Technique | Photoshop Tutorials)

On the second one, I turned the pic B/W, added a new leyer to adjust the color balance, then a second layer to adjust the hue/saturation. Finally, added some vignette and combined all layers.

Opinions, and suggestions are always welcome

I really like the middle image but the last one seems to lack a bit of contrast.

I love the one where you added makeup! That's pretty awesome! I agree the b&w could use a little more contrast. Your wife is a pretty lady!

Nice shot! I especially like the second one. I don't personally care for the tones in the last one, perhaps it might be better as a straight b&w?

Would you mind sharing how you did the digital makeup? I'd be interested to try that!

Great job

I really like the first edit. Compared the original picture it's really quite professional looking. Thanks for the link to the tutorial... I've got a few pictures I'll have to try it on. I agree with the others that the b&w conversion lacks contrast. It sort of strikes me as an attempt to make the image look like it's an old, faded portrait. Perhaps that's the effect you were going for?

The BW I was playing with it to see what I could come out with. I am trying to learn Photoshop, so I am always trying different effects and tricks to see how it looks.

One thing I discovered is that It is really hard to convert a color pict in BW w/o the final results looking looking dull or flat.

trying adding more contrast by adding a "S" curve layer.

I think the digital makeup looks good but it's really hard to tell from such a small image since a lot of details cannot be seen.
