Default Graveyard Statue

I really like this photo. It didn't take too much modification in photoshop. I increased the blacks and created layer for the background and increased the g blur (gausean or whatever its called.. I can't remember right now). Then combined the layers.. very basic and instructions everywhere.. I firstly tried doing Lens blur but it was creating halos around the statue.

I think it looks pretty cool

I have only been interested in photography for about 3 weeks and this is my first real edit in photoshop so go easy lol

DSC_0032before.jpg is the original and DSC0032.jpg is the modified version

I have no clue what that place is...

But, anyways, you can tell the camera is new by the file name.

I saw your post with asking for advice on the halo ... what PP program do you use ? Photohsop or something else? I ask cos if it not Serif I have no clue as yet but I do know that waht I tend to do is create a layer masking the bit you want to stay in focus and then Gaussian blur the background. This as you say can create a slight /halo so I usually blur it a bit then just darken it using a new layer black brush with soft light blend and then adjust the opacity to suit.

I like what you got here but think you could pop it more by reducing the background lightness a fraction. Nicely done and thakn you for sharing what you have done !

Thanks for the help ^^^^. I might reduce the background a tad when I get home from work and see how it looks.. . I will post it in here if I end up doing it.
