Default Removing High ISO Noise

IMG_1230

This one was a lot of fun.
I pointed the camera straight up and slowly zoomed the camera in over the course of the exposure; you can see the tiny jumps where my movement wasn't smooth.

Cleaning it up was horrible though. Any attempt to remove the noise from the 1600iso and 30sec exposure would also kill the subtle stars.

What I wound up doing was creating two layers. The bottom one was for color and I allowed it to go to noise city in the Curves adjustment for color.
The top one I turned monocrome with the channel mixer remoing almost all the red channel. (20%r 40%g 40%b) The curves here were to flatten out the dark and add contrast to the highlights. Then I blended it in Luminosity (Value) mode. I probably could have been even a bit more zealous if I wanted.

i think the result is good. it still has a great deal of detail, the tiny stars are still easily visible and the photo is quite sharp, considering the fact that it has undergone nr. good effort mate
