I used Photoshop Lightning Effect filter -> Omni Light (with a skin tone color.)
Created a second layer, changed the Hue, Saturation and Lightness, then blended both layers. Here is the original and the final results. What do you think? Original ![]() Final result ![]() After reading some comments, I made new changes, which included erasing the distracting hair from my wife's face and my daughter's head. I also added some vignette as a final touch. Here is the final result

I really like the after. it makes the subjects stand out. the only thing that is distracting is the fly away hair on the little girl. Maybe clone it out or something..
