Default car ride

This is my first time posting in the "Before and After" section so please bear with me if a screw a few things up..

So I say someone else do a picture somewhat like this today and it inspired me. so i went out (maybe a little too early) and tried it myself. I knew i wouldnt get the same effect just because of how the road is at my house. Here they are

BEFORE

AFTER

EXIF:
shutter: 12.00 sec.
aperture: f4.80
exposure:Manual
Focal length: 78.00mm
ISO: 200
Flash: off

So it was really simple what I did. I put it on simple editing software (all i have is Kodak EasyShare). Then I made the exposure a tad bit darker. I then put in a 'spotlight' effect like i do on so many of my pictures to center the viewer's attention on the middle line of light instead of the car that is coming in on the right side. As always, I'm open to constructive criticism! thanks and I hope you like it,

-EF

uh here... i think that's lighting effects>spotlight right? on my view, that shouldn't be in the middle as you are not trying to emphasize the middle of the pic right? i mean, the action was on the right side. that's what i think. :s

good point.. I'm not sure. and I don't have any decent editing software. I tried changing the highlight detail on Kodak EasyShare, but then it looked bad. I needed to somehow dim the light on the right side, it seemed overwhelming to me. spotlight was the only feature on Kodak that did that. hm...

I know what you must feel, with having limited editing software for now (b/c that was my situation up to a few months ago), and the way you set the spotlight really centers attention (althought yes, action is on the right side). However, as you let the subject run through the whole image (the blurred car), I think it doesnt hurt it that you spotlit the center . I like it.

I rather like the original, with maybe a little play on the exposure. I am normally a fan of vignettes or blacking the edges, but I don't feel like it works here. If the car is a concern, I would maybe just crop it out.

As far as editing goes ... if you run a Windows computer, you could use Paint.NET (free), or GIMP works on almost anything I think. Just a thought

Really cool shot!

Ummm... Here.

It's OK, it's been done before. It's at eye level and looks like one car passed you on some random road with no context or actual item to catch your eye to make the photo interesting.
