Default Surreal Mirror

Just a brief description of what I did:

I duplicated the image, and changed the colour of the wall, using a colour overlay effect and a layer mask. I also added a pattern to the background wall using a clipping mask. I cut out the mirror, and replaced it with an image of me, which i changed the perspective of slightly to make it seem more realistic. Then I added the hands by cutting them out from a separate image i had taken in which i was holding a piece of paper that i cut out to be the same shape as the mirror frame.

Nice job. The before was an "in-your-face" pink, but the after is nicely stated. Removal of the pink wall helped immensely.

What does the tape over your mouth signify? That women should be seen and not heard? (Not my ideal, but that is what the picture is suggesting)

The edits are kinda obvious that it's a photoshop. A little too bright.

Obviously its up to you to interpret the photo as you will. I whole heartedly disagree with the sentiment that women should be seen and not heard and that was not my intention with the photograph. Its a personal photograph about insecurities and fears holding me back from saying, doing and acting how i wanted to. If that makes sense?

Overall it is very impressive. The hands seem a little off, but other than that good job.

Like I said, I don't believe that women should be seen and not heard. I like what women have to say, and I understand your interpretation of the photo.

I will sometimes say things just to get a conversation going on a topic of controversy. I intended no disrespect to you or to women as a gender.

OK. I'm not an "artisitc" person. And I'm new to photography and PS. But what was that expression, "I just know what I like"? I love this photo. Thanks for explaining to newbies like me how to get "there". I just can't stop looking at it. Awesome. Have a great weeknd. Peace. Charlie

IMHO It's fabulous from every perspective. A great one for your portfolio. I can see it in a magazine iillustrating an article about young women, insecurities etc. or women who are ready to break out but something or someone is holding them back. I love it.

I love it! The concept and the implementation are great. I'm in a little disbelief that everyone that critiqued the technical parts didn't mention the original shadows being in the "after". Great job - have fun and keep it up!
