Default Meet Sylvia.

I've always been interested in photography. I decided to go to school for it and then got distracted by "life" in general. I've picked it up recently and hope I'm on the right track!
SO, this is Sylvia (my friends daughter) and how I post processed her photo.

1. Auto levels
2. Used the Healing tool for and clone stamp tool for some cosmetics.
3. Cropped
3. Warm photo filter
5. Duplicated the layer, ran equalize, set the layer to soft light and bumped the opacity to 37.
6. Duplicated the layer mentioned in #5, Ran High pass, set the layer to overlay and dropped the opacity to 45.

Am I on the right track?

I'm a newbie, so take it for what it's worth, but I have really struggled to make my pictures not look flat. I love how you bumped everything out and made the colors look like they have a lot of depth. Her hair is now a beautiful honey color, her eyes are a deep blue and her lips look like she just got done with a popsicle without looking overdone. She's a beautiful girl and I love the picture.

I think the cropping is great, the contrast looks nice but the rash on her face is a lot redder from the post-processing, I'm not sure if you mind it standing out more rather than being slightly pinker and brighter than her skin like in the original picture. Other than that I think its an adorable shot, love the colors and her eyes especially!

It's not a rash, it's a hemangioma. I offered to remove it along with the scrape on her chin and upper left lip but her mother declined, stating that it was part of her. I could make it lighter I guess, but I think it gives her character?

Ohh ok I see, sorry about that. =]. I wasn't sure if it was a rash or something else, In that case, I think it looks fine then =], since the mother declined it, and knowing that its not a rash, I'd agree its part of her.
