Default Picture of my Cub Scout

This is a picture of my son that I took around Easter. I didn’t like the way it turned out and I decided to convert it to B/W.

1. I first tweaked it in Adobe Lightroom by playing around with the white balance
and tone. I usually bump up the clarity and vibrance a little and I did here as well.
After that I opened it up in PS

2. I used Silver Efex Pro to convert it to B/W
Here I clicked on the antique plate II style.
Next I chose Ilford Delta 3200 Pro as the Film type.
I clicked on grain and moved the slider to 500
Next I chose Vignette under the stylizing tab and played around with the
slider until I got what I liked.

3. After I was finished with Silver Efex, I flattened the image and then added two
layers; one with the text, which is from the Scout Law, and one with the marbling.

I don’t think I have left anything out, I am new to this and to me this is one of my best yet. This is my first post here, let me know what you think.

I think it went from good to great. I love the effect of the boy scout motto, it adds so much more emotion.

Love the edited version. His body language and expression fits just perfectly the motto in the background. Excellent job!

I really love this! As the mom of an Eagle Scout, who also scrapbooks it is a great inspiration shot. He is adorable too!

Question Wow... can I do that, too?

Isn't imitation the greatest form of flattery or something like that? I'd like to mimic this process to do a photo of my godson. Don't suppose you'd send me the text you used? Oh sure, I could Google it. Anyway, it obviously won't come out looking exactly like yours, but I wanted to ask if you minded if I try something similar. I really, really like this!
