Default Longing for summer

The first picture is straight out from the camera as a RAW-image, while the other one is the finished one.

This is what I have done with the picture:

First I did some edits in adobe camera raw. Tweaked the wb a tiny bit. Lightened the picture by turning up the exposure, and also turned up recovery a bit to make sure no parts became burned out (completely white). Then I went to the tone curve part and turned up the contrast by lightening the lights and highlights and darkening the darks a bit.

Then I did some selective editing of contrast with curves in photoshop. I made a curves layer for the foreground which I lightened pretty much and turned up the contrast to bring out more of the structure of the wood.

Then I had a curves layer for the sky and water. On this curve I turned the dark a lot darker and lightened the light areas slightly to give more life to the water, also lightened the blue and green channel slightly on this curves layer to give the water and sky the more greenish tone.

I also had a curves layer for the water only, where I turned up the higlights while leaving the darker areas the way they were to give the water some more contrast and life.

At last I had a curves layer for the whole picture where I only edited the different colour channels slightly (turning the green and red channel a tiny bit up, and the blue channel a tiny bit down) to give the whole picture a more greenish tone.

I also like the post-processing result. The colors add to the stillness of the image.

Wow. I love the mood in the second picture, and I especially love the texture in the wood. Great job!
