Default spring selfportrait

It was such a lovely day I just had to get out of my dungeon and look for some cool places to take photos. While out I ended up testing how my 50 works aimed at my own head.

original: 1/200s at f/8.0, 50mm, ISO 100

final:
20090412-_MG_5149

Didn't do much in Lightroom. Only added some sharpening. Yes, I know I'd be better of opening the file straight in Photoshop than exporting it to jpg first from Lightroom. But doesn't matter that much.

First I did some slight color correction to the darker parts of the face. Then adjusted whole white balance with curves. Lightened the eyes with a curves layer and solid color layer (on Color Dodge blending mode). Then was time to remove some spots and hair with Healing Brush. Converted to black and white image with Black & White adjustment layer. Brought the red way down, left green alone, brought magenta, blue and cyan up (from the default settings). Only thing left to do was sharpening the hair and eyes, and softening the skin just a bit.

....and I just noticed I left some little spec of debris in there.... sigh.

Nice work, but I have to say, it's nice to see another person under fifty who has 'real' headphones rather than those stupid little ear bud things. Glad you could enjoy the sunshine.

Wink

The gray is a little more frightening. I guess I liked the first better.
