Default Interesting Composition

This photo is from my very first photo shoot with a friend in need of pictures for her portfolio (she does hair modeling among various other things) So I love the angles in this shot, but it lacked detail in her face and I felt it needed some work (my focus was off and the colors were soso) So this is the before....

060_60

Rotated image first and cropped left edge, selected new background layer, used gaussian blur filter and dust speckle filter on 3px each, then added noise at 1 px. Using the brush on soft round, set to 100% opacity on clear I dissolve the areas of the photo except her skin. Flattened image. Next I layered new eyes on by lasso-ing new eyes over hers and blending with the opacity slider, then using clear same as before to remove areas that didnt fit in her eye. Used same technique with eyelashes from another picture (since i had lost so much detail in hers because I focused poorly) Flattened image. Created new background layer and set to screen at 50% opacity fo the layer, then selected the brush tool yet again set to clear and removed the bright new light from the edges of the photo so she stood out more, then increased contrast of the whole picture by 8%. Flattened and created new background layer, applied gausian blur on 9px, then selected the brush on clear and removed the layer from the center of the photo radiating out with a lighter opacity till it looked like the edges of the photo were blurred evenly and she was in focus. Flattened and saved..... Comments welcome and appreciated on the overall effect, Is is natural looking or to touched up??? (I know her eyes are a little cat-y, but wo the original is that obvious????

I agree with the person above. You brought out great tones and the tighter crop adds better focus on the subject

I really like it... Agree with the others regarding skin tones... and it also looks like you've added in a narrow depth of field effect, which I like....

I kind of wish she was looking into the photo though, or at the camera. My eye follows the diagonal up from the bottom left corner and when I reach the models face the direction of her gaze leaves me in a kind of limbo....

Cheers,

Glyn
