Okay, I played around some more with this. I readjusted reds in levels and also adjusted shadows in curves. Does this look any better?

The original shot is much better. For me the crop is too tight and takes away the natural look of the face.

I like the reworked version, it's bright and cheery and she's adorable, even if she does have pudgy cheeks !!

Post Prod is just like the camera .. you can use auto functions if you wanna get average results. I think you diving in there and really using the tools is great and important experiance and your after compared before is a vast improvement.

The are so many levels of what you can do.. and a few different ways to do it, but in the end we're just trying to get to the thin line of "ok, that's enough, but not too much". The line seems to be getting a littlle wider as I learn more and more about the fine tuning.

Of course, you could just turn them all into Filter-artistic-colored-pencil and everyone who doesn't know any better will think your amazing lol !
