Default Lazy Sunday Works

Hi, this is my very first attempt to go serious on photography. Taken from a point & shot compact digital camera Olympus Stylus 1030. Original photo, only change the exposure effect to sephia to add drama, hope i pass this one.

Not bad....but I would recommend getting a little lower for the shot. It appears that you are shooting down on the subject. It always helps to get on the same level.

Seriously, I think is is a very good first attempt. Yes, a slightly lower viewpoint would possibly be better. I would have taken out the green leaf in the top left corner and the "leg" in the right corner too. I think the picture would look better as a b&w, I don't like the color tone you have chosen. You may want to try some tri or quad tones for effect.

I actually like the color one better. I think the bright green pail adds a nice focal point. I agree that you could have gotten a little lower on the shot and you might want to try out some other different angles. You also might want to have the objects in the picture overlap a little. Considering this is a still life you could manipulate the positioning of the objects. It might make things more dynamic.

On a side note, I really like when you put in a vignette around the edges on sepia toned pictures. I think it adds to that Antique look. You might want to try it.
