Default I love Raw

Ever since I started shooting with RAW last year, I have decided I love it. I can adjust SOO much more and it lets me take something from blah to wow!

Here is my before and after of my little girl (sorry no bow)...

Before and after

For post processing:

Adjusted WB
Changed Exposure
Added a little Clarity
Added some blacks
Added some contrast
Lightened the eyes
Sharpened the eyes
Used a Duotone

Thats it. Shoot this with my D300 and 50mm 1.8

Raw jpeg its much of a muchness, or 6 of one half dozen of the other. Each has their place. But I do prefer and shoot Raw most times.

Cute baby, as all babies are (but yours is cuter

I prefer the color version as the B&W is too contrasty and harsh. I think that baby photo's should be soft, subdued. But that is my choice. You could soften the image a bit, by finishing with a small Gaussian Blur (0.3 to 0.5) is all that is needed.

One thing that I have noticed is that flickr over sharpens their images...this picture on my computer doesn't look so harsh. Secondly, I love the contrast and and crispness of pictures more than I prefer soft pictures. Just my preference I guess. Thanks for the comments

Wow I LOVE the second one. I'm a sucker for really sharp ones. The baby is really cute!
