Default Out of season

I went down to the beach to get some out of season shots on a fairly grey day and found these "steps" down to the beach.

As you can see the area was quite tatty in places but I loved the blue decorated poles. Here's the original.

orginal steps

I've recently installed the Topaz filter and used this and cropping to get to this.

In hindsight I should have made a tighter crop with the camera but I really like the result - it makes me think of summer days ahead. Not really any skill on my part the filter did the work.

Best wishes,Teresa

Nice! I like the way the effect has enhanced the turbulence of the water.

Nice crop and enhancement. I sort of prefer to shoot a bit wider so I have something to work with if I need to straighten a photo. I also like being able to move my crop box around to get the focal point in the final print exactly what I want, something that isn't always possible when you are shooting on the fly.

Hi Lorianne, It's the Topaz Adjust filter from Topaz Labs and I have been so pleased with it. It creates easily, just the type of look I'm aiming for at the moment. An advert for it always appears when I access this site so you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.Not sure if I can post a link but if you can't find it let me know.

Hi PowerPix,
Yes, you're right of course and I know a lot (probably majority) of people would agree with you but realism isn't what I'm going for at the moment. What I want to produce are images which I like to look at and which give me a good feeling.

Wow, totally loving this shot.

Just proves to me once again to never delete a pic off the camera before a good play around on the comp!

Thanks for sharing

I really like what you've done with this. The crop makes use of the broken-up wooden path as a feature, and the Topaz treatment gives it an 'unreal' feeling that goes well with the subject matter. Occasionally I push Topaz Adujst to a point that would be offputting to those who only like realistic images, but it's an effect I enjoy and which suits some images. This image might look good in B&W too?
