Default My Favourite person ;)

My Favourite person

This is photo I took of my girlfriend whilst playing around with a 50mm F1.7 lens I am currently borrowing. Just had a little play with levels, layers and smart filters in Photoshop. As well as a tighter crop

Before:

After:

Any suggestions on what else could be done to this photo?

Before we get onto what else you could do, could you tell us a bit more about what you did do? You said "... levels, layers and smart filters in Photoshop. As well as a tighter crop" but that is quite vague. What did you do with levels, etc, and why?

If you just want people to comment on which they prefer (and if there is anything else they would do) then Comparison Critique would be better and we can scoot it across.

Thanks,

Wulf

Thanks wulf, I'll try and give a better description of what I have done

1, The first thing I did was to play with the colour and tint options when converting from raw.

2, I then evened up the RGB levels.

3, I then copied the background layer and converted for smart levels. I then used the Gaussian blur filter. I used the mask layer and a low opacity brush to bring out her eyes and face.

4, From there I created two neutral 50% overlay layers. The first one was used with a low opacity black brush to darken up the background and to make her pupils stand out. I used the second layer with a white brush to bring out her face and eyes.

5, The next layer was for saturation. I used this with a brush to grey out to some degree everything but her face.

6, Finally I used a tighter crop which seemed to fit the picture a bit better.

That's great. With those kind of details, if someone really likes the effect, they get a headstart on doing something similar (and, with this result, I'm sure there will be a few who try).

Thanks,

Wulf
