I love it, it's so beautiful.. now if i could just figure out how to do it... the steps make little sense to me, but that could be because i use photoshop elements (6) and I am also still learning.

Thank you for sharing

Hi soepaidjo and welcome to dps forums.
I love the infra red affect that you managed to replicate in photoshop. It's really isolated the subject and given the skin tones a beautiful soft glow.
Unfortunately when I tried it I got skin tones that were blotchy and the foliage was very grainy/noisy so could I get more details please?

What version of PS are you using?

From your instructions:
"first duplicate the layer, and boost brightness of the green channel, "
.......are you duplicating the background layer or the green channel only?
.......are you simply using Image/Adjust/Brightness and Contrast for boosting brightness or Cntrl+L (layers) or another method to increase brightness. How much are you increasing brighness by?

"and change channel mixer layer, set it to monochrome the red -50, green +200 blue -50."
.......which layer are you doing this on?
.......are you creating a new layer?
.......I'm assuming you mean Image/Adjust/Chanel mixer. Are you setting the output chanel to green before doing all this or does it even matter since you set to monochrome anyway?

"duplicate again the background, and put it infront of other layer, and change the blending mode to overlay at 50%."

l'd love to get some more details and keep the tips coming

and slowly i tried to gather from my memory. and sadly i couldnt get as lovely as the first one.

for PRH

i'll try my best to explain the step by step process, ok

first duplicate the background layer, naming it "monochrome"
select monochrome layer, and click at the channel layer, select green channel, boost brightness by change the level setting at image>adjustment>level, and set the slider so the green leaves become as grey as it can.
select the RGB channel and back to layer pallete, yes, the image become greeny.

now adjust the channel mixer layer (not the image pull down menu), click the monochrome, set the slider as mentioned above at my first post.
set blending mode of "monochrome" layer to screen at 35% opacity.

now select background layer, duplicate layer, naming it "infra red". and put it at the top of other layer. and set blending mode to overlay at 50% opacity.
and for the final process, if you have nik software color effect pro, you can make the appeareance of the skin smoother by applying dynamic skin softener effect.
i'am really sorry if you dont get the result as expected because i probably miss out some steps, it's not intentionally.

i prefer the second edit, actually. its much more focusing on the faces of the objects. Very nice effect, I like it a lot.

Question

"NOW ADJUST THE CHANNEL MIXER LAYER(NOT THE IMAGE PULL DOWN MENU) "
I am missing something on this if I go to a channel mixer layer it creates a new layer which you do not indicate to do. So if you would be so kind could you step by step explain this to me I use photo shop cs3
Thanks
Cathie

This is beautiful...does anyone know how to soften the skin like soepaidjo did without the software he used? I am definitely going to try this. Thanks so much for sharing your workflow - I have the same problem when trying to replicate something that I've played with for so long and forget half my steps.
