Default LOMO Door

My image before processing - taken on an overcast day

I Stand at the door and knock

My image after following the LOMO tutorial on DPS. I would love advice on how to improve the look. I love the detail on the door (EXCEPT the intrusive chain lock - couldn't get it erased properly so have left it for now until my Photoshop skills improve - I'm having a tough time getting the clone stamp to follow my 'orders'). Also, I do not like how blown out the top of the door frame became after processing - not sure what I did to cause this or what I can do about it. Advice? Is this an accurate interpretation of LOMO? Did I apply it properly? What can I do to get rid of the lock and the blown out portion of the after photo?
THANKS!
Jayne

I have not read the Lomo tutorial so I'm not familiar with that particular tutorial, however, you can always incorporate masks in the post processing to hide or keep elements of a photo.

I have just read the tutorial on lomo and I think that from what I understand of the process you missed it along the way now it could also be that I don't have it right but I think that it should be vignette (don't trust my spelling) all the way around the pic giving it a dark look all the way around. Then is it is super sharped and darkened during the conversion process. Here is my attempt and like you would like any input on is I got it right or still have homework to do.

Default Thanks, Cathie!

You are so right about the vignette (and you spelled it right, too!). Okay, I knew something of the drama was missing with this PP. I'll go back and try it again - totally missed some steps, I guess.
Maybe we're not allowed to post two pictures so one was removed??? Sorry. I don't what happened there. Maybe I missed some of the rules when I read them, too!

Thanks a bunch!
Jayne
