Default Brittany

This is a first time for me using either this discussion group or any other on this forum. The image of Brittany (15 year old girl) was taken during a portrait session as I was just learning. It is not as dark as it appears on Flickr so don't know what I did wrong. Anyway, I decided to try something totally different with this image. I did a selection of the black background so I could make it lighter. I then switched to CMYK mode, selected the black channel and copied it. I then copied the black channel onto my layers palette and switched back to RGB. There were a few minor adjustments but that was basically it. Both Mother and Daughter really liked the high key portrait.

Great job and I must say that I really prefer the hi-key version. I feel that the subject is lost within the dark background in the original version.
Really nice work!!

This works very nicely in high key. Yet another new technique I can try, thanks for sharing.
