Default Way up high, in the sky

After reading today's blog about taking photos from a plane... I got inspired!

I was on a flight recently and took a bunch of shots, just never got around to processing them. So I thought, why not First time really ever taking shots from a plane, but I learned from the blog what to do for next time!

Original:

shot in RAW, edited color saturations, and slightly adjusted exposure in RAW editor.

opened in PS2 and created duplicate layer in soft light blending mode, about 50% opacity. I feel soft light gives most images just a kick of color and depth so I use it quite a lot.

Upped the contrast just a little

Adjusted curves in Red, Green, & Blue channels. (basically like a cross processing technique)

Added a hint of a sepia adjustment layer

Ran noise ninja to get rid of some, but not all noise. I liked the look with a little noise, had more detail and realism for me.

Ran unsharp mask just to bring back a little more detail, used a mask on the layer to erase some areas of the sharpening. Also had this layer on a low opacity.

Selective dodging/burning.

Voila!

Way up high, in the sky

I know its a little dark, but my main emphasis was supposed to be the clouds.

Really better if you view it larger, more detail.

exif data

first time posting a before/after, hope I did it right! I read the rules, so hope I didn't miss anything...

Nice shot.
I prefer the first since the window is more defined. However I think the top could be cropped a bit.

The sky is looking good, but I would put the wing from the first image into the edited one, I like the detail you managed to get on there in the original shot. Although, did you purposely make the wing darker to bring the sky to the front of the shot? I guess with the original, the wing is the main focal point whereas the clouds hit you first on the edit.
