Default B&W with some colour

HI,

I had taken this shot on my RICOH RDC-7 in 2002..... as the camera took ages to finally take the picture, the rooster was already pretty much in hiding.... and faaaar too much sun.

Rooster in hiding

Last weekend I found a description on the internwet on how to get colour into a b&w picture on www.designbyjoy.net/BlackWhite/Black-White.htm which was very easy to follow, so I decided to learn some Paint Shop Pro (which I had hardly ever used before) and changed the photo above to the one below.

Rooster can't hide any more

I think it's amazing how a bit of colour can change a picture....

I have also tried to get the leaves a bit darker, but couldn't find out how - any hints?

Thank you!
Heide

I like the selective coloring you used on this shot. I use "GIMP" to edit my shots, and I use the "Burn" tool, located under brushes, to darken whatever color is under the brush tip. I believe this can be done in Photoshop, as well. Someone else using PS, could probably explain it better than I can. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
