Default My pup, Bacca

I'm brand new to this forum so I hope I'm doing things properly.

The first picture is exactly as taken. In the second picture, I cropped it and played around with the software in an attempt to enhance the image.

While I like the cropping in the 2nd image, I also think it came out looking kinda "woodish" and lost the softness in his eyes.

Any suggestions as to how I might have done better?

Appreciate also comments on composition. Is this an interesting picture, or just another "cute pup"?

What a beautiful dog.

I looked at the album and I really like the tennis ball picture in an abstract sort of way.

For pet (or most any) portraits, it is usually best to get at eye level with the subject rather than stand above them and have them crane their neck up toward the camera.

I see you have some lower angle pictures in the album though, so you might know that already.

Yes, the tennis ball picture was also a favourite of mine but I didn't like how I cut him off. It was a rushed shot. And it almost worked.

And I think you are right about the angle. I think that what was one of the things bugging me about the picture I posted.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

I'm curious - what did you think about the rest of the albulm. Its a work in progress. I only started it yesterday on Photobucket and today on
DPS.

Eventually I'll start posting more on DPS but I've seen so many amazing pic's that I'm a little intimadated.

Please don't be intimidated!!! There are people of all skill levels on here. And personally, I believe everyone here is very supportive of new people. If someone leaves a comment with technical jargon you don't understand, just ask them to clarify. No one will think less of you. We all started with little knowledge. I have to be honest, I didn't look at your pictures. I'm a little lazy when it comes to looking at links. I did comment on your other post though.
