Default Pretty eyes..

A shot i took of my niece , a little too bright so i converted it to black and white in ps and went back in with the selective coloring on her eyes... She loved it !!

Nice shot

I actually like the colour one better - not bright at all - may be a tad on the tshirt and forehead but the pink tint goes well with the image and eyes. But the crop of the B&W is better.

Err - Don't want to uspset anyone but IMO the selective colouring effect on the eyes only does have the effect of making people look slightly evil!

I agree, the selective colouring process doesn't appeal to me very much when done on the eyes

I like the photo as is... to me I think if you were to brighten up the eyes a little bit and leave the rest of the photo alone, that could work out really well, or maybe just slightly desaturate the rest of the photo while leaving the eyes fully saturated... :-/ just something else to consider... but as far as your technique goes, its very solid. Great Job!

Second on that one. Really, selective coloring on the human face never seems to look right to me.

Dumb question....how do you do "selective colouring"? I've noticed it in a few pics and loved the effect.

Perhaps my software doesn't have the feature....is this something generally available with the standard DSLR camera software, or do I need upgraded software to have it?

Thx

If you have photoshop you can do this. First desaturate your image by going to Image>Adjustment>Desaturate. Then use the history brush (right click on the brush tool to bring up the history brush) to bring back the color of what you wanted colorized in the image.
