I am new to photography and photoshop, but here is a picture of my son that I tried some work on.
Photoshop: Duplicate Layer. Select - Color Range - Eye dropper to select color(s) I wanted to isolate. Apply Layer Mask - go back to original layer, select, image, desaterate. Erased any access color with eraser tool.

Before:
Photobucket

After:
Photobucket

Suggestions Welcome!!

This is so adorable.

Just an observation. The white in the original had a magenta cast to it and it's still a little evident in the after photo.

Yeah - I didn't notice that until I posted it on here - I also missed a couple spots in the right hand corner. I will have to go back and fix those, but I guess you can still get the idea. Thanks so much!!

Selective coloring has such a limited portfolio that it actually works with. This one works, and it works well!
Thank you for sharing

Talking luv the picture

I love the photo.
The noyl thing i see is that in the second one, his hat has a pink-ish tone in the white.

It's not to noticable but something to work on.

I really do love this photo, i dont know what it is but it makes me smile

keep up the good work.

The photo looks great. But I notice the red too.

Another way to do color and B&W like you have is to duplicate layer -> desaturate or greyscale -> press alt+layer mask (the button on the layers menu that is a square with a circle in it) to create a black mask on the greyscale layer -> paint with white on the black mask anything you want in color. That way, if there is a cast or something, you won't have any phantom colors in the photo. You can also then go back and hide the desaturated layer and have the original color photo intact. This allows you to be able to export both versions (combo and color) with only one file instead of several.

Default I am sorry...

I canīt be of much technical help, but I love the image and I wanted to make a comment about the position of the flag. It is being held the same way it appears on military uniforms, where it signifies that we are always moving forward, never retreating...I love it. I donīt know if that was intentional, but it makes it that much better! Great shot
